Thomas Albert "Tom" Maillard October 31, 1924 August
11, 2018 Thomas Albert "Tom" Maillard was born on
October 31, 1924 to Albert and Beatrice Maillard in
Kansas City, MO. Tom graduated from Rockhurst High
School. He enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps, December of 1942. He
served on Guadalcanal, the Marshall Islands, Quam
and Okinawa. After the war, he was sent to China in
1946. Returning home, he completed his education at
Purdue. July 1950, Tom was sent to Korea. Serving
until 1953, his service included the freezing 16 day
experience at Koterie. Joining Boeing in Wichita,
KS, Tom was active in purchasing the B-52 aircraft
manufacturing building. September of 1955, he joined
GE Co., later he became their District Sales Manager
for Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas for the
houseware and radio division. In 1958, Tom was
married to Rusty, who preceded him in death in 2002.
His daughter Lauree Vedros also precedes him in
death. He is survived by his children; Deanna June
Campbell of Weatherford, TX and Ernie Wells of Lee's
Summit, MO, grandchildren Dr. Marty Buchanan,
Venessa Buchanan and Melissa Gannand Michele Wells;
great grandchildren Elaine, Paige, Greg, Harris,
Nelson, Melissa and Michele and Tom's longtime
companion Sandra Whitman. Funeral Mass will be 10:00
am, August 17, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300
W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers
contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic
Church.
