Robert E. Lackner, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Homestead Assisted Living Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 11300 West 103rd Street Overland Park, Kansas. Entombment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery 83rd & Quivera Road Lenexa, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:40 a.m. Monday morning prior to the funeral Mass at the church. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Kansas Hospice 6828 Silverheel Street Shawnee, Kansas 66226.

Robert was born on September 17, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Adolf and Catherine (Sattler) Lackner. He was employed by the Rock Island Railroad for 30+ years. He married Barbara Ann Lancor in 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 1968 when he was transferred by the Railroad.

Robert was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he served as a member of the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal service organization. He received recognition for outstanding support and faithful dedication to the workings of that organization.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Catherine (Sattler) Lackner, daughter, Phyllis Hutchins of Overland Park, Kansas and two sisters, Lillian Olsen of Abilene, Texas and Katy Westenburg of Chicago, Illinois.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Barbara, daughters, Karen Grisell and her husband Scotty of Olathe, Kansas and Karol Shartzer and her husband Ed of Olathe, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his six grandchildren: Christopher Hutchins, Jennifer Nyman, Michael Grisell, Megan Black, Ashley Olerich and Adam Shartzer. He will be sadly missed by his eight great grandchildren.
