DONALD TIMOTHY HEIMAN Obituary

Donald Timothy Heiman, 85, Overland Park, Kan., passed away peacefully Saturday, May 2, 2015. Don was born June 29, 1929, in St. Benedict, Kan., to Edward and Bertha Heiman. He moved to Kansas City after High School and met his wife, Norma. Don graduated from Rockhurst College. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was an Army Reservist for 30 years. Don was Chief of Security for the FAA until his retirement in 1989. In retirement, he devoted himself to volunteering for numerous organizations. Don was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Honor Guard. Don was a loving and generous husband, father and grandfather. We will miss his caring heart, warm smile and sense of humor. Don was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, John, Kenneth, Edward, Regis and Brother Robert, and two grandchildren, Alexis Heiman and Ryan Cox. Don is survived by wife of 63 years, Norma J. Heiman, four children, Barry Heiman (Cindy), Debbie Pugsley (Chris), Richard Heiman and Jan Cox (Kyle), four grandchildren, Stephanie Whitehead (Matt), Jemma Pugsley, Megan and Jared Cox, great grandchild, Charlotte, two brothers, Paul Heiman and Tom Heiman, one sister, Mary Jo Hughes and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kan., where the rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, Kan., with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Catholic Charities.
